In 1921, Shozaburo Shimano establishes Shimano Iron Works and begins production of the bicycle freewheel. From 1940, when the company was incorporated, until today, Shimano is providing attractive products with a focus on cycling and fishing, the most popular outdoor sports. Today there are factories all over the world, from Asia and Europe to North America and Australia. In the past 35 years Shimano has been a sponsor of many professional road racing teams and many rely on its components during demanding racings.
