Kona bikes was founded in 1988 by Jacob Heilbron , Dan Gerhard and early MTB champion Joe Murray. Today, Heilbron and Gerhard own and run the company in Washington and Vancouver. The Kona Bicycle Co. is an independent bike company that makes more than 60 models of bikes, each designed with a specific rider and style in mind. It specializes in high-performance mountain bikes, racing and touring bicycles and after years of experience the company is considered to be one of the most reliable in the market.
